Staff Scientist - Nucleic Acids - Arizona BioSignatures Laboratory (ABL)

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

 

The Arizona BioSignatures Laboratory (ABL) is a non-profit organization created by the Critical Path Institute. ABL seeks to establish and promote assay standards for emerging biomarkers and biosignatures, in order to accelerate medical product research and development. For this, ABL cooperates with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, other government agencies, industry, and academic partners.

As part of an expanding collaboration with the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University, ABL is recruiting for its laboratory at the Biodesign Institute in Tempe, AZ.

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

Title: Staff Scientist - Nucleic Acids
Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and education
Location: Biodesign Institute, Tempe, AZ, with occasional day trips to C-Path headquarters in Tucson, AZ.

 

The incumbent will conduct nucleic acid biosignature assays on a range of platforms with responsibility for assay implementation, optimization, characterization and documentation. Also, the incumbent will evaluate biological specimens to select benchmark samples. The incumbent is expected to participate in the development and drafting of Standard Operating Procedures that reflect best practices and of study reports, and occasionally, in the preparation of grant applications. The incumbent may be assigned to train and supervise junior laboratory personnel and to interact with vendors and collaborators.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, or similar field is preferred; well-qualified MS-level applicants are encouraged to apply.
  • At least 3 years of laboratory experience within a regulated industry (diagnostics or pharmaceuticals) highly desirable. A working understanding of Quality Systems Regulations and Standard Operating Procedure-driven process control is expected.
  • Expertise required in nucleic acid techniques, including a broad range of PCR-based assays.
  • Cell culture experience highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated technical versatility and data analysis skills are assets.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
